Wanda Rosie Kainer

Wanda Cegielski Kainer was born in Chappell Hill, Texas, on April 17, 1935 and passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of September 9, 2026, after a long battle with kidney disease. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Adolph “Sonny” Kainer; her parents, Mike and Rosie Cegielski; brothers, Herman (Esther) and Dominik (Cecilia); and nieces, Theresa Rhodes and Patricia Bielmowicz. She remembered her deceased family with cemetery flowers several times during the year. Sonny and Wanda were married April 11, 1959, at St Theresa Catholic Church where she was a parishioner for most of her life. They had no children of their own but were blessed with many Cegielski and Kainer nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and godchildren. She was a very caring and loving Aunt that became a Mom and Grandmother figure to many of them. She loved them all. Wanda attended St. Theresa Catholic School through the 8th grade. She had limited education, but she was a very smart and self-educated lady. Wanda worked many years at pharmaceutical supply companies, retiring in June 1995. She was a devout Catholic and went to church every week, preferably Saturday evenings. She was not happy when the time changed because she could not see well after dark. Wanda was a reserved person, but she loved and enjoyed all phone calls and visits from family and friends. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters #1750 and Ladies Auxiliary #2917. Wanda bowled in league bowl and the Cacey Queens state tournaments. She enjoyed and attended many National and State tournaments with family and friends. She was an avid Astros fan and always looked forward to watching every game on television. She was not happy if the game was not on her channels, or they lost. Wanda loved to travel to the nearby Casinos to gamble with family and friends. She was somewhat conservative, mostly only playing the minimum amount, until her nieces influenced her to play more to win more. She was very excited when she won, especially more! She loved the Friday night dinners with her lady friends, Thursday group, playing cards and dominos (chicken foot) with her family and friends anytime she could, even when she was very sick. Her last game of chicken foot was August 30, 2026 with some of her nieces and caregivers. Wanda was an excellent cook and would not go to anyone’s home without taking something to share. She was very frugal but never wanted anything for free. If you did her a favor or chore with no charge, she was going to take you to dinner, and you better accept her offer. You were not allowed to say no. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all her caregivers at Mae Flowers Home Care and Prime Choice Hospice, and especially all her friends that called, visited or brought food. She really enjoyed it. All services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at St. Theresa Catholic Church on 6622 Haskell Street in Houston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. along with the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Auxiliary. The visitation will then continue from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall at St. Theresa's. The Rite of Committal will follow at 3:15 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Drive in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please making a donation in Wanda's name to a charity of your choice. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Larry Cegielski, Dylan Jebousek, Jared Jebousek, Eugene Twardowski, Danny Twardowski, and Craig Cegielski. Honorary Pallbearers are Lawrence Cegielski, Kenneth Kainer, Andy Griffin, and Paul Duport.
