Sylvia Trout

Sylvia Trout peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on November 2, 2022, at 89 years of age. Sylvia was widowed at the age of 24 upon the untimely passing of her first husband, Gregory Dritsas, with whom she had two small children and a third on the way. Ten years later, she married Cecil Trout, had two more children, and after 25 years of marriage, was once again widowed. Sylvia's family was the fiber of her being. She was extremely proud of them, and they of her, as she was an amazing mother, a strong, loving, compassionate, humble, gracious, and exceptionally talented woman with "golden hands." There wasn't a thing that she couldn't make or do. She transformed everything she touched into magical works of art, from beaded flowers, draperies, clothing, elaborate costumes, floral arrangements, to wedding crowns (stefana) and favors. She also taught bow-making classes and drew and painted with pastels and oils. She was an avid Rockets and Astros fan, and undoubtedly on Cloud 9, 10, or 11 since the Astros won the World Series for her. She played softball in her youth and learned how to ride a bike at 75. She adored Tony Bennett, often humming, singing, and dancing to his tunes throughout the day. And Lady Clairol (medium brown color) partially sponsored her elegance! Most notably, Sylvia was known for her huge unselfish heart, always helping others, and her constant concern for the well-being of others. Those who knew her are truly blessed! May her memory be eternal. Sylvia was preceded in death by her Greek immigrant parents, brothers, Reverend George Thanos and William Thanos, and her sister, Helen Barnes. She is survived by her cherished family: children: Patty (George) Magoulas, Chris (Jacque) Dritsas, Gregoria (Reza) Barazandeh, Bill (Yvette) Trout, and Michael (Joanna) Trout; six amazing grandchildren, as well as four precious great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rita (Chris) Bruskas and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Father Demetri Tagaropulos for his unwavering love and support. A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Trisagion, then followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2022 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Blvd., in Houston, Texas. A reception will immediately follow the funeral. The interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive.
