Sharon Elaine Andrew

Sharon Elaine Andrew (née Wilbert) passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at the age of 81, with her two children holding her hands. Sharon was born in Kansas to Fern Louise and Earnest August Wilbert before her family settled in Alexandria, Louisiana, where she spent her childhood. She grew up just across the street from her Catholic church and school, a place that shaped her lifelong faith and the values she carried with her every day. Her relationship with God was quiet but steadfast, woven into the way she loved, served, and cared for others. She met the love of her life, Glenn Andrew, while they were both students at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where Sharon was a proud member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. They married in Houston, TX on August 30, 1974 and together built a home in Kingwood, Texas, that became the heart of their family for more than five decades. Glenn and Sharon created a home filled with laughter, holiday traditions, lifelong friendships, and an open door for anyone who needed an evening of fun in the Buick Bar. Glenn passed away in 2021, with Sharon faithfully by his side until his final moments. After nearly 50 years of marriage, they are together once again. Sharon is survived by her son, Andy Andrew, and his wife, Ashley, and her daughter, Shanna DeLeon, and her husband, Ruben. She was endlessly proud of her five grandchildren (Grayson, Landon, Evan, August, and Elena) and cherished every milestone, every visit, every hug, and every chance to simply be “Nana.” The family she and Glenn built together was her proudest achievement. Throughout her career, Sharon moved between banking and the classroom before returning to what she loved most - teaching first grade. She was a natural teacher, giving generously and listening patiently, quietly putting the needs of others before her own. One of the greatest joys of Sharon’s life was her bond with her sisters, Carolyn, Marilyn, and Arlene. Together they formed a friendship as much as a sisterhood, built on endless conversations, contagious laughter, and countless photographs. Family holidays often ran on “Wilbert time,” with Thanksgiving dinner sometimes not making it to the table until 10:00 p.m. because no one could stop talking or taking pictures in the kitchen. Easter held a special place in their hearts; it was their Mother’s favorite holiday and each year became a special way to celebrate her. Finding the perfect outfit was a cherished tradition, and the sisters delighted in dressing for the occasion and capturing every moment in photographs. Those Easter mornings reflected so much of what Sharon loved most: family, faith, laughter, and making ordinary moments feel special. Sharon and Glenn also shared a close circle of friends dating back to their years as young professionals in Houston in the 1970s. More than fifty years later, those friendships remained just as strong, celebrated at every Dinner Club, Poker Night and Girls Thanksgiving gathering. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:15 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, Texas 77056 where Sharon and Glenn exchanged their wedding vows in 1974. A reception will follow at the Rainbow Lodge, 2011 Ella Blvd, Houston, Texas 77008 and all who knew and loved Sharon are warmly invited to join the family in celebrating a life so beautifully lived. We will miss her deeply, carry her with us always, and strive to love others the way she loved us.
