Preston Ashleigh Mood

Born September 20, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, Preston Ashleigh Mood passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas, on July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Preston was a man of integrity, compassion, and quiet strength. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he found his greatest joy in his family, offering steady guidance, thoughtful wisdom, and unwavering encouragement. He took great pride in celebrating every milestone, rarely missing a game, recital, or performance. Preston began his career as a draftsman and, through dedication and perseverance, built a respected career in the oil and gas industry, ultimately serving as a project manager on major refinery projects. Known for his professionalism, attention to detail, and dependable leadership, he lived by the belief that anything worth doing was worth doing well. A gifted athlete, Preston played football and ran track for Hillcrest High School in Dallas and continued his athletic pursuits at the University of Kentucky and the University of Texas. Early in his married life, he played defensive back for the Pasadena Pistols (TFL) and later enjoyed competing in a local tennis league. While he loved sports, his greatest pleasure came from cheering on the people he loved. Preston valued hard work, kindness, respect, and doing what was right. Known affectionately as “Brudaddy,” he will be remembered for his gentle spirit, warm smile, and the unconditional love he shared with his family. Preston is lovingly survived by his children, **Margaret Spillane (Richard)**,**Patricia Fowler (Jerry), Melinda Condon (Tom), Joseph Mood**, and **Mary Katherine Mood**; grandchildren, **Sidney (Kenneth), Linden**, **Andrew, Jackson, Mary Lu, Caitlin** and **Elissa**; great-grandchild, **Beatrix**; Sister, **Peggy James (Jesse)**; stepchildren, **Michelle Overbey**, and **David Mohun (Kristen)**; step-grandchildren, **Linden, Lucas, Coleman, Abigail**, and **Marshall**, and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, **Patricia Gail**, and his parents, **Anne Marie (Scrobel) Mood** and **Preston Maurice Mood**. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Preston’s life at Joseph Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott, Houston 77007 on September 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Though he is no longer with us, the love and memories Preston created remain a lasting gift. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
