Mary Frances Beale

Mary Frances Beale, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 29, 1944, in Houston, Texas, Mary was the daughter of Rudy and Mary Elom. Her life was a testament to love, resilience and dedication to her family. Mary was a graduate of Oakwood High School, class of 1963. She devoted her life to being a homemaker, where she found joy and fulfillment in serving her husband, Medwin Dee Beale, Jr., affectionately known as "M.D.," and their two children, Brenda and Trey. Together, Mary and M.D. built a life filled with love through the good times and the bad, celebrating 60 years of marriage. Mary's warmth was felt by those closest to her. She enjoyed cooking meals for the family and an occasional, preferably brief, house full of visitors. She was much more comfortable with the quieter side of life: reading, working through word searches and jigsaw puzzles, and watching and commenting on television programs filled with senseless drama or nature shows with “cute” animals. She liked cheering for the Houston Astros with M.D. and ringing her trademark bell when they scored a run. She loved listening to music, harboring a particular fondness for old school country music, especially Randy Travis. Her generous spirit extended beyond her family. Mary was a fervent supporter of numerous organizations, including the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, Help Heal Veterans, the American Red Cross, and the Houston SPCA. Her contributions to these causes reflected her deep empathy and desire to make the world a better place. Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband, Medwin Beale, Jr.; her parents, Rudy and Mary Elom; her sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dallas McCurdy; and her brothers, Mike McConathy and Danny Elom. She is survived by her children: Brenda Deyo and her husband Donald, and Medwin Beale III (Trey) and his wife Brandy. She leaves behind four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Katy Gober; Joshua Toney; Micah Beale and his wife Isabel and their son, Silas; Naomi Roberts and her husband Julian and their daughter Magdalena. Her surviving siblings include her brother Robert Elom, her sister Lynn Stanforth, and her sister-in-law Serena McConathy. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private celebration of life will be held in her honor. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the employees of Houston Hospice for their dedication and tireless service during Mary's final days. They truly were a Godsend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity in memory of her compassionate spirit. Mary Frances Beale's legacy of love and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
