Ken Yuen Chin

Ken Y. Chin, the only child born to Hubet Woo Chan and Kam Ho Kwan on March 29, 1932 in Hoiping, Kwang Tung, China entered into his new life with Christ, at the age of 87, on July 23, 2019 in Missouri City, Texas. Ken was preceded in death by his son, Sam, and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, So Wah, his children Brenda Chan (Steve); Robert (Bob) Chin (Sophia); Helen Chin; Mary Lee (Jim Q.); and Cheryl Lim (Jeff), his grandchildren Christopher Chan (Gretchen), Travis Chan, Nick Chan, Danielle Chan, Samantha Lin (Banks), Cara Chin, Peter Chin, Stephanie Gee (Brandon), Nathan Lee, Meagan Lee (Joshua) and Olivia Lim, and his great grandchildren Noah Chan and Jacob Gee. Ken worked for two years before being drafted in 1952 to serve with the US Army in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in November of 1954. He and his wife settled in San Antonio and started their family. He owned his own grocery store business until he retired in 1997. Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandchildren: Christopher, Travis, Nick, Danielle, Peter, Brandon, Joshua and Banks. The family would like to thank the staff at Park Manor in Missouri City, Texas for taking care of him, especially his physician Dr. Brian Tong; nurses Laura, Mary, Betsy, Jeremiah, Samuel, Mistie, Gulshan and Susan to name a few; administrative staff Gail and Eddie; Vaishali of Homewell of Fort Bend who found our God-sent Jennifer, our loving caretaker, who went above and beyond to care for our father, and Annie; Houston Hospice including Chaplain Todd, Paige, Kathy, Lucy, Harriet, Gabriel and Caroline. A full military honors service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (Shelter 2), 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:30 pm at the First Chinese Baptist Church of San Antonio, 5481 Prue Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78240.
