Antonio Urias-Cordero

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of their beloved son and brother, Antonio Urias-Cordero, 27, of Houston and El Paso, Texas on May 27, 2026. His loss has shocked, saddened, and forever changed his family and friends. Antonio was born on July 13, 1998, in El Paso, Texas. He embodied love, acceptance, joy, and courage. A loyal best friend, thoughtful listener, and gentle soul, he deeply cherished the lasting friendships he built. His father and mother could not ask for a more loving son. They are grateful and blessed to have had him in their lives and will cherish his memory forever. Antonio’s and his mother’s love for each other is forever intertwined in their souls. Their devotion to each other was a guiding light in their lives. Antonio’s kind heart shone brightest when he was surrounded by love, compassion, and understanding. From an early age, Antonio faced life challenges bravely and never gave up. At the age of six, Antonio endured months of chemotherapy after a tumor was removed from behind his ear, but he never shed a tear each time the nurse inserted the long needle into his small hand. In high school, he studied hard through difficult engineering classes, eventually earning a research assistant position at the University of Texas at El Paso in his junior year. Antonio suffered from mental health complications in his third year at the University of Houston. Always resilient, he received care and found the courage and strength to persevere. He pursued his passion for computer and A.I. by obtaining a degree in computer science. He loved music and often attended concerts and music festivals. He loved the festivals’ ability to show a variety of genres and wide range of artist from up and coming to established acts in one location. He treasured the time he saw Paul McCartney perform at Austin City Limits. He enjoyed cooking with his dad and on his own. He made the best pancakes ever. He also enjoyed losing himself in the magical universes of fantasy novels and movies. He graduated from Chapin High School’s Pre-Engineering Magnet program in 2017 in El Paso, Texas. He received a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Math from the University of Houston in 2022. Antonio is survived by his parents Fernando Urias and Sandra C. Urias, his brother Fernando Urias-Cordero, his paternal grandmother, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We will forever remember his voice, smile, hugs, and unwavering love. Though our hearts are broken, we are comforted in knowing our beloved Antonio is resting in peace and safe in heaven. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street in Houston, Texas on Friday, June 5, 2026. Services will begin with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception at Fellowship Hall at St. Theresa’s will immediately follow the Mass. The family requests that any flowers be sent to the funeral home, Joseph Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott, Houston, Texas 77007.
