Neil Ciaran Kerrigan

Romans 14:8. It is with great sadness we share the news that our son, Neil Ciaran Kerrigan (9/21/97 – 10/11/16), passed away peacefully at home this week. Neil was a joyous child, a loving son and brother, and a generous young man with a caring heart and gregarious nature. Neil attended St. Mark’s Episcopal School from preschool through eighth grade and graduated in May from Houston Christian High School, where he served as male student chaplain his senior year. He had planned to study Theology at Samford University in Birmingham or Houston Baptist University in Houston this fall. Neil loved worship and country music, cars, watching sports, spending time with family and friends, and lifting others in their time of need. Neil lit up the room with his engaging smile and animated conversation. He poured his heart into others and lived a life of service from a very young age. He particularly enjoyed volunteering at the Houston Zoo, his school, and our church. Neil battled brain cancer for the past three years with courage, grace, humor and unyielding faith. He is survived by his parents, Manju and Tony; younger brother and sister, Sean and Sonia; maternal grandmother, Uma Monga; and uncles, Matt Kerrigan and Manoj Monga and their families in Ireland and Cleveland, Ohio, respectively. Neil was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Our family is so thankful for the wonderful medical teams at Texas Children’s Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Houston Hospice, and for the care, prayer, love and support that have carried us through this journey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell St., Houston, TX, with a reception following in the adjacent Church Hall, where friends will have an opportunity to share their remembrances of Neil. The Rite of Committal will take place at a later date in Ireland.
