Charles A. Moore

Charles "Charley" Moore, born November 17, 1950 to Harrell and Caroline Moore passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family in Houston, Texas January 21, 2016. Charley is survived by his loving wife Cathy; children and step-children, Ashley and Mike Batistick, Mallory and Diego Fernandez, Josh Gold, Michael Gold, Kelsey Gold and Kyle Gold. He was also awaiting his first grandchild. He is also survived by his two brothers Andy and his wife Brucie Moore, and Rager and his wife Gigi Moore. He will be missed by countless nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends. Charley devoted nearly four decades to energy law. Charley's extraordinary talent became evident early in his career when he served as General Counsel to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) beginning in 1981, only six years after earning his law degree. He also served as energy adviser to the Governor of Texas and served as the official Texas representative to the Interstate Oil Compact Commission. He successfully represented clients including state agencies from Texas to Alaska as well as some of the largest companies in the world. Charley received a B.A. from the University of Houston in 1972 and a J.D. in 1975, Magna Cum Laude. As an undergraduate, Charley was a proud member of the Cougar's football team. An offensive guard, Charley was a 3 year starter on teams with a collective record of 26-8. He followed the University of Houston's football team throughout the years with great enthusiasm. Charley was a dedicated mentor, a trusted adviser and an individual many were honored to call a friend. Charley was the founding Board Chairman of Community Health Choice, a local organization whose mission is to open doors to coordinated, high-quality, affordable health care and health-related social services. His involvement in charitable initiatives, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church and his deeply held faith were testaments to Charley's personal conviction to place others before himself. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service honoring the life of Charley Moore will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, in Houston, Texas. A celebration of life will follow immediately after. Inurnment will follow at the Memorial Drive Presbyterian columbarium in a private ceremony.
