Carole Ann Harkins Moore

Carole Ann Harkins Moore, a beautiful and kind woman who enjoyed life her way, was born March 20, 1939 to Ines and Chester Harkins at St. Joseph's Hospital, and died peacefully on January 18, 2022 in Houston, Texas. Carole was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Moore Parker. She is survived by her children, Deborah Cervenka and her husband, Alan, Jackie Moore, Jr., and Wanda Moore Baptista and her husband, Federico; her sister, Barbara Jean Hefley; her brother, Chester Marshall II; her grandchildren, Brandy Parker Suominen, Robert Spencer Moore, Stephany, Ray, Carly Cervenka; and great-grandson, Christian Parker Gravina. As a child, Carole was a brownie, a Rainbow girl, and as an adult was a member of the Lions Club and Catholic Charities. Diagnosed at age 12 with Poliomyelitis, Carol became an accomplished synchronized swimmer and ice skater. At 14 she swam at the Shamrock Hilton in a water ballet National Junior Olympic competition, also swimming on the Morris Frank show on PBS television. Carole worked for Braniff and Continental Airlines as a Reservationist supervisor and as a travel agent. As her children were growing-up they enjoyed all of the benefits of travelling with the family. Carole loved her children and was a dedicated mother. She coached the girls softball team, took them to twirling competitions, was a Girl Scout den mother, and drove them to baseball games. Growing up Carol always ensured her children lived near parks and sports facilities. They loved the annual cross-country road trips in the family station wagon. Carole endured a long battle with health issues that sometimes would affect her mobility. She was able to remain at home as her children and friends took care of her needs. Her devoted daughter Debby and her family made sure she always had something fashionable to wear and a home-cooked meal. Her son, Jack, after from returning from Afghanistan in 2020 was able to spend quality time with her and was a helpful caregiver to this mother. Jack was with her “mother” when she passed. They enjoyed trips to parks to feed the ducks and down to Galveston for seafood dinners. Wanda, Debby, and Jack always made sure they were all together to celebrate birthdays and holidays with their mother. We’d like to extend a special note of thanks to her former husband, Jackie Moore and wife, JoAnn, for their never-ending support. Carole was a thoughtful and caring person who never met a stranger. She was a beloved mother that will be dearly missed and always a caring generous friend to all. A visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022 at Joseph J. Earthman Generations, 234 Westcott Street in Houston, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, Texas. Carole will be laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer cemetery in Houston, Texas.
